How toxic is
PenaShield to humans or pets?
The active ingredient PenaShield is a borate. Borates are
considered to be low toxicity products by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and are found in products we use
daily. If you have any concerns regarding the health effects
of borates to humans or pets, you should take a PenaShield
label to your family physician or veterinarian and have
them help you determine if borates are appropriate for use

Do I need to wear and protective
equipment or clothing?
You should wear eye goggles, gloves, pants, a long-sleeve
shirt, socks and shoes when applying PenaShield. You should
wear a mask if working in a confined or poorly ventilated
